Rescan Media Root . . .
Recently Samsung announced Jelly Bean firmware update for most of its devices. Users were exploring the new features but they realized that the battery of device was draining too fast. My personal experience is my device with 80 % battery remaining was drained to switch off overnight.
After a lots of analysis I found the below built in applications eating the battery of my device and are cause of battery drain in many devices having jelly bean firmware.
- Download ( Couldn't download apps from store if disabled)
- DRM Protected Content Storage
- Media Storage (Stops sd card detection if disabled)
- com.sec.android.providers.downloads
So if your device is facing quick battery drain problem after upgrading to Jelly Bean, check your battery stats and see of it displays media storage as top of drain chart. If yes you need to install “Rescan Media Root” this app disables media scanning and allows you to enable when it is required e.g. after downloading new audio or video files. This app requires root and USB debugging to be enabled.
